"Written for chamber ensemble, solo pipe organ, choir, string quartet, four trombones, and carillon (an enormous percussion instrument played with keyboard and cast-bronze bells) and recorded with a vast array of musicians (...), 'Two Sisters' is arguably Davachi's finest work to date. From the carillon chimes of the opening track, "Hall Of Mirrors", and the lyrical polyphony of "Alas, Departing", it befins as a record of seeming place and time, yet gradually those structures fall away leaving deep organ rumbles and suspended acoustic drones; a slow, graceful exploration of history and decay"

"Sarah Davachi is a master at making otherworldly music that coalesces the past and present ... On her new album Two Sisters, Davachi once again explores this resonant mix of old and new, but this time around, she takes on more sinister hues and foreboding melodies ... Though this is new territory for Davachi, the creepier, hollower atmospheres of Two Sisters feel fitting, especially because her music has always conjured a sense of interiority ... Davachi has long shown us that she can write music that celebrates the joy of quietude - now, she shows us she can embrace the fear of it, too"
